Book Review: Funny Feelings by Tarah Dewitt

Rating: ...Literally good

Summary:

Farley Jones, an up-and-coming standup comedian who harbors a secret crush on her older manager, Meyer Harrigan. Meyer, a former comedian himself, stepped away from the stage to care for his deaf daughter, Hazel, but has remained devoted to supporting Farley's career. Despite her deep feelings, Farley fears ruining their close friendship by confessing her love. However, when a career-making opportunity requires them to fake-date for publicity, their playful facade begins to blur the lines between fiction and reality, bringing their hidden emotions to the surface. This heartwarming tale explores love, friendship, and the joys of pursuing creative passions.

Magda's Thoughts:

his delightful and breezy story follows two comedians, with her as a rising star and him as a well-known veteran who stepped away for family reasons. To boost her career, their management comes up with a plan for them to “fake date,” which hilariously works all too well. With years of unspoken feelings between them, the playful banter and simmering tension build until they finally realize they’ve always been in love. The stakes are light, but the witty exchanges and charming dynamic make for an effortlessly enjoyable read that left me smiling. The inclusion of ASL and the touching bond between Farley and Hazel add even more heart to this adorable rom-com—perfect for a trip or whenever you need a feel-good escape.
